From ordering them, comparing them, listening to them, we ended up going through just about every cutting engineer on the planet and found that neither the blanks, nor the grooves, nor the sound quality were ever quite the same. We concluded that there must be different cutting styli and different blank discs out there. Today, we're able to tell them apart.

This site was born from a desire to pass on that eye and ear: to help you recognise blank types, judge the cut and choose a studio. Our listing criterion is cutting on pressed blanks, either exclusively or alongside sheet-cut discs. Studios that only use sheet-cut discs are not included.
