Pixelgroove is an audio mastering and vinyl cutting studio based in Lille, France. We always adapt our cutting settings to the music (and not the other way around), aiming for the highest possible fidelity and cutting level. One-off and short-run vinyl cutting is carried out by mastering engineer Olivier Classe on a 1950s Thorens lathe, upgraded to modern specifications by Sylvain Ehinger, Pixelgroove’s founder and a mastering engineer. Our lathe is fitted with a Caruso cutterhead made in Switzerland by Flo Kaufmann (Flokason). We exclusively use pressed blanks, PVC blanks and diamond cutting styli. Our in-house Pixelgroove software predicts acceleration, playback distortion and tracking errors, and controls key aspects of the cutting process. We prepare vinyl masters daily and use all the analogue and digital tools needed to achieve the most faithful cut possible.
